Local universities and the Valparaiso-based Center for Workforce Innovations are encouraging area employers to consider internship programs. Ancilla College, Calumet College of St. Joseph, St.  Joseph's College in Rensselaer and Valparaiso University are promoting the Indiana Chamber of Commerce's internship-matching program Indiana INTERnet as a way to meet workforce needs.

Informational events are scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. Oct. 14 in the Duesenberg Community Room at the Christopher Center for Library and Information Resources at Valparaiso University, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 14 in the presidential suite of the Richard J. Scharf Fieldhouse on the campus of St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer.

All the events are free and include a continental breakfast or lunch.
