Business:

The Chamber works to promote and enhance business. We partner with members to help their business grow and enhance through networking, marketing, referrals, trainings, seminars, policy updates, and advocacy. 

Community:

We want to maintain DeKalb County as a great place to live, work, and play. We carry out this mission by forming partnerships with area. In addition, we host events such as the summer Cruise-Ins, to cultivate a sense of connection and pride.

Education:

Education is a key component of both business and community. We have partnered with Learning Link DeKalb County to cultivate a culture of continual learning through the Career Expo, DeKalb Leadership Class, resources for local schools, and key trainings for businesses

 

The Resource Development Intern will work closely with the Executive Director to create and carryout a new, mission-minded, revenue generating event. The intern will see the project through from beginning to end. 

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm and research event ideas
  • Build and manage a task force of volunteers to assist in carrying out the event
  • Marketing the event
  • Preparing updates and reports for staff and board of directors

Qualifications

  • Must be an EARN Indiana Student (Indiana resident enrolled full-time at an Indiana institution, offered a State financial aid award, seeking first bachelor’s degree)
  • Seeking Bachelor’s Degree in Events Management, Marketing, or other related field.
  • GPA of 3.0 and up
  • Experience generating revenue through events
  • An effective communicator, both written and oral
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
