Safety Coaching Best Practices Study

 

The Safety Intern selected will research best practices around safety coaching, mentoring and safety incentive programs including those used in companies whose programs are considered "World Class."  The intern will work with the Safety Team and the Fort Wayne Metals' Employee Engagement Team to develop a general employee survey around safety and engagement in safety practices, as well as a second survey for only Fort Wayne Metals' Staff around safety culture.  The outcome of the research will be presented to Staff and used to develop our in-house coaching and safety leader training program. 

Responsibilities

  • Understand what constitutes a "World Class" safety coaching program
  • Understand the state of our safety culture at Fort Wayne Metals
  • Compare and contrast via benchmarking
  • Use information to prepare to develop a safety coaching program that fits our culture
  • Participate in developing and implementing program

Qualifications

  • Excellent computer and research skills
  • Understanding of survey and statistical data
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work independently
  • Communication or Sociology student, preferred
  • Junior or Senior student, preferred
