Description

Fort Wayne Civic Theatre is offering a paid Technical Theater Production internship for a student enrolled during the 2015-16 school year at a local 2-year or 4-year college/university with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or a recent graduate who completed the degree no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

This is a paid, part-time (15-20hr/wk) position January-April 2016. Schedule is listed below but may be adjusted depending on successful candidate's availability or last minute adjustments to the overall production calendar. Preference will be given to those with availability in 3 hour blocks, time frame to be negotiated. Per hour wage is $8.33, paid bi-weekly.

We are looking for candidates with a technical theater background and/or skills in any of the following: painting/sketching, prop making, construction, digital media, electrical, lighting design, rigging, sound engineering or sound design, or costume construction/sewing.

This position is ideal for multi-talented junior or senior Theater or Art students seeking on-the-job production experience and a desire to refine and showcase existing talents as well as learn new skills.

Approximate internship dates:

January-April 2016 for The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein, Playwright Festival, and Avenue Q.

Responsibilities

The internship(s) would provide technical production support to our scenic, light, sound, and costume departments for the winter/soring productions of our 2015/2016 season. The intern could assist in any of the following areas: building/carpentry, light hang/focus, sound set-up, prop construction/refurbishing, scenic painting or load-in/out, or costume construction. They would be assigned their own projects and/or assist volunteers/staff which would result in the final production presented on stage. All activities would take place in our supervised shop/stage and during an agreed-upon schedule. The internship provides valuable real-life experience working on large-scale professional-quality productions within a local setting.

Qualifications

Successful applicant(s) must be a current student or recent graduate of a college or university located in northeast Indiana.  Recent graduates must have completed their degree no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
