Description
Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center at Crooked Creek is looking for a part-time Market Master for the Crooked Creek Farmers Market. The Market Master's primary objectives are to support vendors, while ensuring compliance with markety rules; to promote locally produced foods and product; and to encourage both vendor and customer participation. This is a seasonal position which includes pre- and post season planning in addition to in-season operations. The Crooked Creek Farmer Market Master reports to the Executive Director of Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center at Crooked Creek.
Responsibilities
- Direct operations for the summer and holiday (if applicable) farmers markets including: ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations; conduct farm visits; recruit and select vendors, be present at markets and maintain records; select and schedule market musicians, childrens crafts/entertainers, and special guests.
- Maintain and document farmers market policies and procedures
- Organize, analyze and manage information, vendors and volunteers
- Create and manage farmers market related programming
- Develop and enhance outreach efforts to local businesses, vendors, volunteers, customers, the local foods community
- Publicize and promote the market via websites, Facebook, Twitter, newsletter, press releases, print marketing and othe appropriate communication channels
- Work with the FBGNC and Crooked Creek CDC staff and board of directors to ensure the success of the program
- Create a marketplace that is safe and welcoming to customers and vendors
- Ability to easily move around the Farmer's Market and perform occasional light lifting
- Coordinate vendor relationships
Qualifications
- Passion for local foods and connections with the local foods community
- Strong administrative skills
- Experience with job responsibilities outlined above
- Ability to organzize information and events
- Strong communication skills - face-to-face, phone, and online
- Ability to work with committees as part of a team
- Ability to work with independently and problem solve
- Solid writing skills and public speaking ability
- Proficient at Microsoft Word & Excel
- Ability to work on evenings and weekends as necessary and to travel to vendors
