Description

Since February 2016, The International Center and The America China Society of Indiana (ACSI) have formed a strategic alliance to expand collaborations to promote a China-friendly business climate in Indiana. To further enrich the strategic partnership, the two organizations are offering a joint intern position. The selected intern is expected to work as a direct assistant to the Project Manager-China at The International Center and to the Executive Director of America China Society of Indiana. Approximately 70 percent of the time would be devoted to the tasks required by The International Center, and 30 percent would be devoted to ACSI-related tasks.

Responsibilities

Tasks required by The International Center: 

  •      Assist the China Project Manager in formulating business proposals and managing projects, including hosting delegations 

  •       Research information for special projects and ongoing programs such as China workshops and symposiums as needed

  •        Contribute to the bilingual China News Blog (English and Mandarin)

  •       Attend weekly intern meetings 

  •      Represent The International Center and present U.S. flag at naturalization ceremonies as needed

  •       Participate/assist in at least one International Visitor Leadership Program dinner hospitality

  •         Provide support to other offices as needed

  •      Be prepared to represent The International Center at external functions as needed

  •    Assist The International Center with fundraising and events

  •    Assist with recruiting interns

 

      Tasks required by ACSI:     

  •        Provide excellent customer service to ACSI members

  •   Develop and maintain ACSI website

  •   Translate ACSI marketing and communications materials from English to Mandarin

  •   Represent ACSI in a professional manner at private events

  •   Contribute relevant information for ACSI newsletters

  •   Research data on the latest business trends locally and abroad

  •   Develop social media campaigns utilizing Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

Qualifications

1.      Current undergraduate or graduate, preferably from an Indiana-based college or university

2.      Strong and effective oral and written communication skills

3.      Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff members, board members and volunteers

4.      Ability to manage multiple tasks

5.      High proficiency in Chinese and English preferred

6.      One-year of work experience preferred

7.      Proficiency in Windows-based PC environment (Microsoft Office, database, Internet)
