Primary Engineering is a commercial building engineering firm with offices in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. Their focus on electrical and HVAC systems means they cover everything “inside the walls” in a commercial build. Interns at Primary Engineering are expected to turn the theory of their classroom learning into application with everyday clients. Responsibilities
Intern will be assigned projects based on the needs of the company, and the skills of the intern. Duties will include:
- Assist in the creation of design work for commercial facilities’ electrical power, lighting, and low voltage systems
- Use CAD to incorporate design into digital form
- Complete design calculations for lighting systems, and verify compliance with energy codes
- Assist with the design of power distribution for commercial facilities
- Assist with the design of low voltage systems (data, voice, fire alarm, security, sound)
- Pick up/Drop off materials for company business to clients/partners within the city
- Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Required:
Currently seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Field
Basic understanding of CAD and AutoCAD software
Calculus completed before internship
Good understanding of OHMS Law
Software experience: Autodesk and Office
- Preferred:
Basic understanding of power electronics and lighting design
Computer savvy
A strong communicator (written and verbal)
