Internship Description: Provides analytical support for the Business Intelligence Department. Intern will be assigned a variety of assignments designed to complement their current level of academic training. Significant exposure to health plan data and business intelligence domain.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Develop and/or maintain reports and extracts utilizing the Microsoft BI Stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) and Microsoft PowerBI.
- Conduct analysis of business requests, gather requirements and potentially develop the solution.
- Provide analytical support for the Business Intelligence team, including assigned projects and specific provider requests.
- Performs any relevant and related duties as required.
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain exposure with health plan data.
- Learn how to work with both the business unit and the technical unit and adjust the communication style accordingly.
- Learn to work with Microsoft SQL Server, BI Stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) and PowerBI.
- Learn to work effectively with all levels of employees across multiple departments in meeting internal and external requirements.
- Learn how a Data Governance Committee and program works.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Self-directed individual with the ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, project management and presentation skills including both verbal and written communication.
- Detail oriented, with effective research and problem solving skills.
- Proficient with relational database (MS SQL Server preferred).
- Ability to analyze sources of information and documentation.
- Organizational skills necessary to coordinate and prioritize workload.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain a customer focused attitude.
- Preferred:
- Understanding of the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS).
- Ability to understand PHP custom database layout, format, and information usage.
Dress code: Most staff members are allowed to dress in casual attire five (5) days a week. Appropriate business attire is required for anyone conducting face-to-face business with current and/or prospective clients, customers, providers, vendors, etc. while at PHP or at another site. Certain positions that require customer contact may have a limited casual dress policy as decided by the department manager.
