Description

The Pod 7 Intern provides support services to the South Bend/Elkhart campus of Ivy Tech Community College. Under supervision of the Dean of Business and Public Services, this position will work with Ivy Tech students on an individual basis to help them overcome obstacles to academic and personal success.

This primarily involves identifying challenges, strategizing solutions, referring students to needed resources, and following up with students to further support and motivate them. The Intern will serve as the critical first impression for students and visitors visiting the South Bend campus’ Pod 7.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for Pod 7 visitors to greet them.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student interactions.
  • Document student interactions, resource and referral plans.
  • Maintain student interaction, resource and referral plan records for reporting purposes.
  • Assist in maintaining the professional appearance and general organization of the Pod 7, including work areas, common areas, and food pantry.
  • Follow up with students as necessary.
  • Become knowledgeable of Ivy Tech’s resources and community resources.
  • Utilize strong communication and customer service skills

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as a student at Ivy Tech Community College with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be an outstanding team player, have excellent customer service skills and possess a professional demeanor.
  • Must be proficient with MS Word and have experience with various software applications.
  • Requires a self-motivated, outgoing, detail oriented and highly organized individual.
  • Good grammar, oral, and written communication skills essential.
