Description
The School Services summer interns assist with the educator professional development and programming. The intern will also assist with the development of programs and materials for the museum’s school audiences and support preschool operations and programming when applicable.
Responsibilities
Possible internship projects include:
- Assisting with the logistics for the educator institutes offered in June, July, and August
- Assisting with researching and writing school programs and visit guides for teachers
- Researching topics in-depth for teacher guides/units of study
- Compiling and analyzing data from school programs, educator professional development, and general school visits
- Assisting School Services/Preschool department with other projects as necessary
Qualifications
Intern should:
- Have web researching skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Exhibit professional behavior and responsible work ethic
- Have good writing and communication skills
- Suggested majors: Museum Studies, Elementary Education, Child Development, Family Studies, Events, or Hospitality
- Be available from early June through early August
- Have experience working with children
- Have excellent customer service skills
- Have time management skills and the ability to multi-task
- Preferably have a background in history, art, science, or humanities
- Be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
