Description

The Family Programs Intern will assist with the development and implementation of family programs. The intern will take pictures to document StarPoint Summer Camp and create a weekly newsletter.

Responsibilities

Possible internship projects include:

  • Research program topics or exhibit content to assist in creating activities for family programs and school outreaches.
  • Work with family programs staff to create, facilitate, and implement monthly family programs based on themes from the Sports Legends Experience.
  • Assist with StarPoint end of camp celebration and the summer neighborhood night.
  • Serve as the StarPoint summer camp photographer. Lead the team of interns to develop the celebration slide show.
  • Create a weekly StarPoint summer camp newsletter to keep parents informed about camp activities and programs.

Qualifications

Intern should:

  • Have completed at least one year of college.
  • Have experience working with elementary age children.
  • Have an academic background in social work, education, family studies, museum studies, child development, psychology, or a related field.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Have good customer service skills.
  • Have excellent organizational and research skills.
  • Have the ability to multi-task.
  • Exhibit professional behavior and responsible work ethic.
  • Have web researching skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Be available some Saturdays and some evenings to help facilitate family programs.
  • Be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
