Description
The StarPoint Intern will assist with the development and implementation of the museum’s StarPoint summer camp.
Responsibilities
Possible internship projects include:
- Assist the camp Instructor with implementing daily camp lessons, projects, museum visits, library visits, and field trips.
- Plan and implement several lessons throughout camp that support camp topics.
- Plan and implement daily active play for the campers.
- Assist with the evaluation efforts for StarPoint. Could include interviewing campers, monitoring progress on projects, and entering data.
- Serve as a chaperone for camp field trips.
- Assist with preparing the end of camp celebration and slide show.
Qualifications
Intern should:
- Have completed at least one year of college.
- Have experience working with elementary age children.
- Have an academic background in social work, education, family studies, museum studies, child development, psychology, or a related field.
- Have good oral and written communication skills.
- Have good customer service skills.
- Have excellent organizational and research skills.
- Have the ability to multi-task
- Exhibit professional behavior and responsible work ethic
- Have web researching skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Be available full time for all of the camp weeks – camp is four weeks long and runs from the middle of June to the middle of July.
