We have always prided ourselves on being a community-based childcare center. We are a one-of-a-kind, homegrown, organic part of South Bend, and we’ve been present and welcoming to all children for over 30 years.

We believe that our school is more than just a place to learn—it is a community. We typically serve approximately 90 children among seven classrooms. East Bank students in each classroom are given the opportunity to experience “active participatory learning” through the HighScope approach. Children’s interests and choices are at the heart of our HighScope program. Central to our core mission is providing learning experiences that empower children to become engaged and enthusiastic about their learning.</span></p> <p><span>In addition to our curriculum we encourage and support social emotional well being by incorporating aspects of Conscious Discipline. Conscious Discipline</span><span> equips educators with the skills to integrate social-emotional learning, discipline and self-regulation.

Our success as an educational community begins with each family’s careful assessment of our center relative to their child’s needs and the family’s expectations, as well as our understanding of how we can provide the best care for their child. We have a dedicated group of parents and teachers who come together monthly to discuss any needed policy changes, plan center events, and participate in fundraising events.

We have a dedicated team of teachers with over 70 years of combined teaching experience.Two of our teachers are certified in HighScope curriculum, while each teacher is dedicated to continued learning in the field of early childhood.

Our center was founded in 1988 and has been an integral part of our community for over 30 years. We have been accredited since 2008 from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In October of 2010, East Bank Learning Center was recognized by the state of Indiana to be the first center in Indiana to receive a 4 Star Provider Rating through the Paths to Quality rating system, the highest rating.
