Description

The Marketing intern position supports and implements Promotions and Communications projects as assigned to support efforts in building awareness and increasing attendance across the museum’s audience base.

Responsibilities

Possible internship projects include: 

Promotions and Events:

  • Assemble prize packages and coordinate execution for giveaways.
  • Assist at Promotional events.
  • On-site promotions including driver appearances and character appearances as assigned.
  • Promote Access Pass during Free Days and assist with sign-up process.

 

Communications:

  • Update and compile mailing/contact lists for Access Pass program and other mailings as assigned. Assist in disseminating materials.
  • Assist with onsite signage updates and conduct inventory.
  • Participate in SWOT analysis and compile notes for exhibit marketing plans.

 

Market Research:

  • Conduct research on local and regional school calendar and school breaks.
  • Conduct competitive research for new exhibits including Haunted House, local festivals and events, school visits and general regional attractions.
  • Assist in visitor surveys in museum’s “Try-It-Out Space”.

 

Digital Media Production:

  • Sit in on project update meetings and assist with photo shoots as assigned.
  • Cultivate photos or search for photos on request.

 

General Support and Grassroots Marketing:

  • Sit in on select client meetings and assist with projects as assigned.
  • Update trainings and presentations.
  • Assist with distribution of marketing collateral to Corporate Sponsors and Partners.

Qualifications

Intern should:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Commit three days a week minimum from 10am–5pm
  • Have outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Have the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Have the ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Public Relations, Journalism, or Communications majors preferred
