Description

The Noble County IT Department currently has a planned opening for a computer and network intern.  This position will support a number of local government functions.  The position is part-time and may involve working during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM) as well as occasional evenings or weekends.  The position will average 20-28 hours per week, with actual hours varying depending upon tasks assigned. This position is considered temporary.

Responsibilities

Various computer and networking tasks will be assigned:

  • Setup, configuration, and installation of new workstations
  • Network configuration and troubleshooting
  • Server configuration and disaster recovery activities
  • Basic helpdesk support for applications
  • Troubleshooting of computer hardware issues

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be a high-school graduate, with additional training in computer hardware, software, networks, and communications highly desired.  College or technical school coursework and documented work experience are also desirable.
  • Candidates are expected to have a basic PC knowledge, including configuration of operating systems, hardware identification, basic networking principles, and troubleshooting. Candidates are expected to be skilled in using standard desktop applications (e.g. Word or Excel) and should also possess some knowledge of database applications and reporting.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) are essential, along with the ability to work with little supervision.
