Primary Engineering is a commercial building engineering firm with offices in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. Their focus on electrical and HVAC systems means they cover everything “inside the walls” in a commercial build. Interns at Primary Engineering are expected to turn the theory of their classroom learning into application with everyday clients. Primary Engineering is a company that encourages a curious mind, and thrives on self-starters.
Responsibilities
Intern will be assigned projects based on the needs of the company, and the skills of the intern.
Learning Outcomes:
- The practice of transferring classroom theory to application
- Working in a team environment to accomplish tasks
- How to communicate within a team
- Understanding basic commercial construction practices
- How systems work as a whole from electrical engineering to mechanical engineering
- Basic understanding of the legal process for public bidding
- Understand heating and cooling load calculations and energy simulations.
Qualifications
Currently seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Field
Basic understanding of CAD and AutoCAD software
Calculus completed before internship
Software experience: Autodesk and Office
- Preferred:
Basic understanding of heat transfer and thermodynamics
Computer savvy
A strong communicator (written and verbal)
