Description

The Rentals & Events Intern will work closely with the Events Production Manager and other TCM staff to plan and produce external rental related events (weddings, proms, corporate meetings, etc.) at the museum, within The Riley Children's Health Sports Legends Experience and The Manor. 

Responsibilities

Projects & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and maintain communication with other museum event staff (Facilities, Visitor Services, Interpretation, Security), Sodexo (in-house caterer), and external vendors to assist with the coordination, planning and implementation of first-class events in support of the division’s strategic priorities.
  • Remain on-site for all scheduled Events.
  • Attend internal planning meetings with Mentor.
  • Learn how to draw Event Floor Plans, send event setups, and oversee event setups onsite.
  • Create specialized event nametags and signage when needed.
  • Assist with event setup, guest registration and greeting when needed.
  • Assist with research and purchasing of event décor and supplies as needed.
  • Participate in planning meetings with clients
  • Create information sheets for weddings, proms, and college groups.
  • Create a reference binder of sample invitations and event collateral materials.
  • Organize past Event Image Photos.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive relationship with all clients and internal museum staff.
  • Attend some luncheons and/or evening events for ISES (International Special Events Society) or MPI (Meeting Professionals International) with TCM Event Team.

Qualifications

Intern should:        

  • Be available 21 hours per week over the course of the internship.
  • Have completed 2 years of college.
  • Be majoring in Marketing, Public Relations, or Event Planning/Management.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Possess good organizational and research skills.
  • Be able to multi-task and possess good time management skills.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Be able to attend evening and/or weekend events.
  • Be able to attend 5-12 events in the duration of the internship.
